JACK WILSHERE has held talks with Arsene Wenger about signing a new Arsenal deal when he returns from his loan spell at Bournemouth.
The England ace, 24, joined the Cherries for the season on transfer deadline day to get regular first-team football.
But Wilshere is believed to be keen on signing a new long-term contract with the Gunners after positive talks with Wenger.
His current deal runs out next summer and negotiations have already begun about extending it for a further three-years.
An Emirates source said: “Jack left because he wanted to get more first-team football to get his England spot back.
“He loves Arsenal and wants to remain and the club and the chats he has had with the club have been very positive on both sides.
“Jack is desperate to stay and prove himself to everyone what a top-class player he is. The experience about Bournemouth should serve him well.”
