‘Gareth Bale will just keep getting better and better,’ says Wales boss Chris Coleman

CHRIS COLEMAN has fired a warning to Wales’ World Cup rivals: “Gareth Bale is getting better and better."

The Welsh boss and his side begin their quest to reach Russia 2018 at home to Moldova on Monday evening with the country still on a high after reaching the last four at Euro 2016.

Bale was the talisman for Wales throughout the last campaign, scoring seven goals in qualifying before notching in all three group games at the European Championship.

The forward has continued his form on into this campaign as he notched twice in Real Madrid’s opening game of the season.

And on the eve of the Russian adventure beginning, his national manager issued a warning to their World Cup qualifying group opponents Austria, Serbia, the Republic of Ireland, Moldova and Georgia.

Coleman said: “Gareth scored inside 75 seconds of Real's first game of the season, but I never get surprised by him.

“I know he's capable of almost anything and I think Madrid are very excited about the future with 'Baleo'.

“They recognise that they've got someone who's going to be there for a while and someone who is capable of winning everything.

“He's getting better and better still.”

It is not only his skills with a football that had Coleman purring over Bale.

The 27-year-old has all the ingredients of a top player both on and off the pitch.

Coleman added: “Along with that incredible ability he's got that first-class mentality as well.

“It's winning formula for Real Madrid and for Wales, and I think he will have another good season.”
