Jack Wilshere makes Bournemouth debut against AC Milan just days after loan move from Arsenal
England midfielder was named in the starting XI to play in Warren Cummings' testimonial match at Vitality Stadium
JACK WILSHERE made his Bournemouth debut today after being named in the starting XI to play AC Milan.
The match is being played as a testimonial for Warren Cummings - who made over 300 appearances for the club - at the Vitality Stadium.
Wilshere, 24, joined the Cherries on loan in a deadline day move from Arsenal.
Bournemouth agreed to pay the England midfielder's £3million fee and £80,000-a-week wages to land him.
Pal Benik Afobe, who also started the game, said Wilshere was right to join the Cherries to better his future.
He said: "It’s no secret Jack and I get on really well. Our families are big friends. We’ve known each other since I was eight and he was nine – and he is a great lad to have here and hopefully he can help us climb up the league table.
“Some people think Jack has come here only because one of his best friends is here. But he is here because he knows Bournemouth are the right club for him to progress with his future.
“This was a decision he made that was right for his career.
"AFC Bournemouth was my football career and to be able to go back and be involved in such a prestigious occasion means a huge amount to me. I'm incredibly honoured and humbled.”
