Chelsea ‘could sell THREE midfielders to raise funds for emergency January transfers’ after injury crisis

CHELSEA could be set to sell THREE midfielders to raise funds in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Blues have fallen away in the Premier League title race and currently sit 11 points adrift of table toppers Manchester City.

Thomas Tuchel's side have been hampered by injuries and Covid cases, but could still be about to offload several faces in the upcoming window.

According to , Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Hakim Ziyech could all be on their way out of the club.

Barkley has failed to secure much game time so far this season due to the incredible competition for midfield places at Stamford Bridge.

The presence of Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and even Saul Niguez has seen the Englishman start just once in the Premier League.

And while he still has 18 months left on his current deal, he could finally be set for a permanent move away from Chelsea.

Another former England international could also be ushered out of West London in the shape of Loftus-Cheek.

After scoring 10 goals in 40 games in the 2018-19 campaign for the Blues, he managed just 10 appearances in the following two seasons.

The 25-year-old has been more prevalent than Barkley in the first half of the new campaign, with seven Prem starts to his name.

But Loftus-Cheek is still behind the likes of Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic in the pecking order and may well be seen as expendable to Chelsea chiefs.

And then there is also Ziyech - an attacking player who has struggled to make a name for himself at Stamford Bridge.

He arrived from Ajax in 2020 off the back of a stellar four-year spell with Ajax.

But just nine goals in 57 games for the Premier League side has led many to question whether he is the right man for Tuchel's side.

However, if Chelsea do sell the Moroccan star then they will not want to take a big hit on the £38million they paid for him.
