Wales ace Chris Gunter wants to continue the high notes after enjoying Reading Festival with Aaron Ramsey
CHRIS GUNTER wants Wales to hit the high notes in a bid for a 2018 World Cup spot - after a warm-up act at Reading festival.
The full-back went to the popular gig with injured Welsh team-mate Aaron Ramsey last weekend.
And, even without the Arsenal midfielder who has a hamstring injury, Welsh dressing room DJ Gunter hopes Gareth Bale and Co will be on song in their Cardiff opener against Moldova on Monday night.
Reading ace Gunter said: "On the Saturday it was the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Imagine Dragons and then the Sunday it was the Vaccines and Biffy Clyro to end it. We had a great time and we saw it right through.
"We went to Glastonbury together years ago and it worked out really well with the way the fixtures fell and Aaron being injured helped. It was a wicked weekend and Reading won."
Wales play in Cardiff for the first time since reaching the Euro semi-finals in France almost two months ago.
Gunter made an iconic gesture to the Dragons supporters to keep their 'chins up' after the last-gasp defeat to arch rivals England in the group stage.
And the 27-year-old, who is set to win his 74th cap, insists that bond between players and fans must remain as they bid for a finals place in Russia.
Gunter added: "That particular gesture probably helped but I guess I'm as close to a fan as you're going to get. If I wasn't in the squad I'd be in the stands.
"I just was thinking 'What are they going through?' We've all had mates and family who had made the effort to get over.
"It's the bond. When I was growing up I would go to Wales games where there was fighting in the stadium and almost fractions within the support.
"Now you're seeing flags with Cardiff and Swansea badges next to each other which is unbelievable really and almost sums up the whole feeling around the country.
"From where it's been to where it is now, the bond between the fans, it feels we as players have helped bring people closer together and that's a great feeling.
"As long as the team are trying and doing their best I think it will always be there. It's important we keep that together."
