Sunderland transfer news: Black Cats secure late deal to loan Manchester City’s Jason Denayer on season-long loan
BELGIUM international will gain first team experience under David Moyes at the Stadium of Light
SUNDERLAND have completed a late deal to land young Belgium defender Jason Denayer.
The 21-year-old joins David Moyes' side on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
The promising central defender has yet to play a first team game at the Etihad but will now spend his third loan spell away from the club.
He has racked up 69 appearances for both Celtic and Galatasaray over the last two seasons.
But he will get his first taste of Premier League football under Moyes and is expected to play a key role in Sunderland's season as they are braced for a tough battle towards the root of the table.
It has been a frustrating transfer window for the former Manchester United manager having missed out on a number of key targets.
However they did smash their club record to sign Dider Ndong for a £16million fee from French club Lorient on deadline day.
It eclipses the £13m Sunderland paid for striker Asamoah Gyan six years ago.
It was expected that the Black Cats would complete a deal to land Steven Naismith but the move fell through in the final stages.
