Tottenham transfer news: Moussa Sissoko arrives in London to complete £25m transfer from Newcastle but Everton have joined the race
MOUSSA SISSOKO has landed in London ahead of a £25m move to Tottenham Hotspur - but Everton are also interested in a late move for the Frenchman.
France manager Didier Deschamps confirmed that the Newcastle star had left the team's base close to Paris in order to finalise his move.
In a press conference, Deschamps said: "He [Sissoko] is in London (laugh), he will know soon and should rejoin us this evening.
"And I can play him against Italy tomorrow."
SunSport can confirm Newcastle are accepting five payments of £6m for the transfer to happen, and that Chelsea are not interested to sign the midfielder.
The 27-year-old Frenchman left Clairefontaine – where Les Bleus train near Paris – this morning at 8 am, while his team-mates flew to Bari.
Spurs offered £16million earlier on deadline day and seem to have an advantage with Champions League football.
Sissoko said: “As I want to stay in the France team I could not stay in the Championship.
“I want to continue my career in England, at a club that plays in the Champions League because I think this best fits my style of play.”
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to strengthen his midfield after selling Ryan Mason to Hull for £13m yesterday and Nacer Chadli for £12m to West Brom.
Spurs have also let Nabil Bentaleb go on loan to German club Schalke.
Georges-Kevin N’Koudou has made his transfer to Spurs official on Twitter and young goalkeeper Pau Lopez is also expected to be confirmed on Deadline Day.
