Players stunned as referee fails to give goal despite being TWO FEET behind line in Europa Conference League decider
QARABAG'S players were left stunned on Thursday night after the referee failed to award them a goal despite the ball being TWO FEET over the goal line.
The Azerbaijani side were drawing 0-0 at Basel in the Europa Conference League decider and they were baffled when nothing was given.
The ball was played down the right hand side in the very first minute.
Ibrahima Wadji held off a challenge well and broke into the right hand side of the penalty area.
He slid it across the box and the Basel defenders failed to clear it.
And Abdellah Zoubir ghosted in at the back post to smash a right-footed effort towards goal from eight yards out.
It was blocked by a retreating Basel defender who was clearly BEHIND the line.
Zoubir wheeled away to celebrate having seen his effort cross the goal line.

But shockingly the ref did not award the goal and instead played on.
Patrick Andrade blasted a second effort over the crossbar as Zoubir began to remonstrate.
He threw his hands to his head and gestured to both officials as well as the Basel defence - pleading for a goal to be awarded.

Fans online were equally confused as Matt said: "How could the ref not see that? Or at least the linesman?"
And Ralf added: "Needs to be something in place where if your club or national country are expecting to participate in an international tournament or club domestic competitions then the stadiums need to hit certain criteria. I.e goal technology etc."
Basel went on to win 3-0 and qualified from Group H as winners. Qarabag would have pipped them to top spot with a win.
