Transfer deadline day 2016: Premier League club-by-club guide to what all 20 teams need before the window closes
SunSport runs the rule over all 20 Premier League teams as they rush to complete their business before the window closes at 11pm
TRANSFER deadline day is here, and that mean's its time for an almighty scramble for clubs to get their business done before the window closes at 11pm.
It's been a record-breaking window with spending in the £1billion region after some big name and mega money moves, but it's not over yet.
Ahead of tonight's window closing, SunSport looks at how all 20 Premier League clubs are shaping up.
ARSENAL
- Granit Xhaka could prove to be a steal at £30m, while the additions of striker Lucas Perez (£17m) and incoming £35m defender Shkodran Mustafi fill problem areas
- A dynamic striker in the mould of a Karim Benzema would have given Gunners a better chance of competing for the league title
- Wenger is still hopeful of bringing in Paraguay attacking midfielder Miguel Almiron from Lanu, according to reports
- Jack Wilshere is on his way out in a shock loan move – with AC Milan among the favourites
BOURNEMOUTH
- Bournemouth's big signing of the summer was the £15m spent on Jordon Ibe from Liverpool. Following the winger to Dean Court was Lewis Cook (£7m), Lys Mousset (£5.4m), Brad Smith (£6m), Marc Wilson (£2m) and Emerson Hyndman (£750k)
- Despite the signing of Chelsea's Nathan Ake on loan, the Cherries could still benefit from having a more experienced head at the back, especially at centre half. They could also do with replacing the flair and skill of Matt Ritchie on the flank, sold for £12m to Championship side Newcastle
- Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has stated his business for summer is done - but the revelation that Arsenal's Jack Wilshere is available for loan could add the Cherries to what will be a long line of suitors
- It is unlikely there will be any further departures from Howe's squad before transfer deadline, although big-money signing Benik Afobe may attract interest having not started a game yet this season
BURNLEY
- Steven Defour was the Clarets' big signing of the summer, £7.4m persuading Anderlecht to let the Belgium international leave. One of Iceland's Euro 2016 heroes Johann Berg Gudmundsson was signed from Charlton Atheltic for £2.5m, with Shaun Dyche also raiding the London outfit for 24-year-old goalkeeper Nick Pope for £1.4m. Patrick Bamford has also joined on season-long loan deal from Chelsea
- Burnley could be looking to swell the midfield ranks, with much of the reliance on playmakers George Boyd and Scott Arfield. An experienced centre-half could also be on the radar for Dyche
- The Clarets have reportedly had a £5.5m bid turned down by Brighton for midfielder Dale Stephens. They are expected to test the water with that one again. Free agent Charles N'Zogbia is also believed to be on Dyche's radar, but he may well have to prove his work ethic to the boss
- Burnley rely on a close-knit and hard-working squad, so it's unlikely there will be any major exits. Some of the younger members of the squad and youth teams may well be sent to the Football League for experience. Although early days in the season, Andre Gray may already have attracted attention, but Dyche will be confident of rebuffing any bids at this stage
CHELSEA
- Antonio Conte hasn’t had to do much to get the Blues back in the title race. Premier League champ N’Golo Kante was a £30m sure thing and Michy Batshuayi an exciting £33m back-up for Diego Costa. Reserve ‘keeper Eduardo was picked up for relative peanuts
- The Italian boss appears to have shored up the defensive but, with Kurt Zouma coming back from a serious knee injury and John Terry in the autumn of his brilliant career, a young centre-back might be handy
- David Luiz has emerged as a late target this window with the Blues launching a £32m bid. James Rodriguez is another marquee signing the club keep getting linked with and, if out-of-favour playmaker Cesc Fabregas moves on, the Colombian would make a sweet swap. One-time Bolton flop Marcos Alonso is also a £23m target after turning his career around in Italy
- Any of the two dozen or so players Chelsea have shipped out on loan could - and probably should - be sold for the sake of their careers. Patrick Bamford is on loan club No6 with a trip to Burnley and should find a permanent base if only to save on the cost of constantly moving house
CRYSTAL PALACE
- Andros Townsend, James Tomkins and Christian Benteke have all come in, to the tune of around £40m, with plenty of Premier League experience to help Alan Pardew’s men stave off relegation. Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda was a surprise addition and his fee is top secret
- If the Eagles have signed the Benteke of Aston Villa goal-scoring fame they need not worry too much, but if they’ve shelled out most of their budget on the same bloke who collapsed at Liverpool they’ll need more firepower
- Palace are one of the 43 clubs linked with taking Liverpool outcast Mario Balotelli off Jurgen Klopp’s hands, but the Italian looks set for a move abroad now
- Despite cashing in on Yannick Bolasie, Palace are also apparently in danger of losing fellow wing wizard Wilfried Zaha to Tottenham. But losing the local lad for a second time, after his failed move to Manchester United, would look like a white flag being waved for the coming season at Selhurst Park
EVERTON
- Ronald Koeman's Toffees have enjoyed a fruitful summer, managing to bring in big-names Yannick Bolasie for £25million and Ashley Williams for just £12m, along with the shrewd additions of Idrissa Gueye and Maarten Stekelenburg
- Despite assurances just a week ago, there is still the very real possibility Romelu Lukaku could leave Everton this summer and if that happens, Koeman may want to dive into the market for a big-name forward before the window slams shut
- Former Southampton boss Koeman has been linked with Napoli's attacker Manolo Gabbiadini on a £3million-a-year deal, along with Deportivo's Lucas Perez Martinez, while Newcastle's Moussa Sissoko has been linked...As has Manchester City outcast Joe Hart
- As mentioned, Lukaku could be on the brink of a move away from the club - but that could be it as far as Koeman is concerned
HULL
- Club record £13million signing Ryan Mason adds some much-needed steel to the Gunners midfield to replace Mohamed Diame
- The club need a manager…and another experienced centre-back with the club raced for relegation scrap
- The mercurial pair of Mario Balotelli and Ravel Morrison have been linked in a surprise coups
- Abel Hernandez is allowed to leave the club, but his move to Aston Villa will not be happening after Villa signed Jonathan Kodjia
LEICESTER
- Claudio Ranieri's Foxes have had a productive summer, bringing in Ahmed Musa, Nampalys Mendy and Ron-Robert Zieler among others... But the biggest news of course is managing to keep hold of star duo Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez
- Leicester may yet need a top-class left back... While Christian Fuchs is a solid player, as he showed during the Foxes' famous title-winning campaign, his potential move to Liverpool would leave them very short, particularly with Ritchie De Laet having already left this summer
- The Foxes have been linked all summer long with forward Islam Slimani, as well as more recently with Sporting Lisbon ace Adrien Silva. Admil Rami was also a target earlier in the summer window
- Jeffrey Schlupp looks most likely to leave, with Tony Pulis' West Brom favourites to land the left-sided player. However, with Fuchs also set to leave the King Power Stadium, Ranieri will be desperate to cling on to one, if not both, of them...
LIVERPOOL
- Despite balancing the books, Jurgen Klopp has still managed to spend big in bringing £36m Sadio Mane and £25m Georginio Wijnaldum to Anfield
- The Liverpool boss has still to address the left-back problem with James Milner filling in for the struggling Alberto Moreno
- Leicester's Christian Fuchs could well solve the defensive crisis, while Klopp is still hopeful of bringing in Dortmund teen starlet Christian Pulisic
- There's plenty of outgoing activity expected at Anfield with Mario Balotelli desperate to leave, Mamadou Sakho set for a loan deal, Lazar Markovic looking for a new club and teams circling for Danny Ings
MANCHESTER CITY
- A major overhaul from new boss Pep Guardiola has seen the club splash out £47.m on John Stones and a further £37.5m on Leroy Sane. The captures of Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, Claudio Bravo amongst others mean an outlay of £167m over the summer
- The new City boss has covered virtually every position with his signings, though the team could still be light in terms of recognised proven strikers beyond Sergio Aguero
- A surprise move for Jack Wilshere has been mooted, especially with Joe Hart’s departure reducing the ‘Home Grown’ pool of players in the City squad. They will be ready should any truly world class stars suddenly become available
- City are likely to be busier offloading players, with Wilfried Bony looking for a move. Eliaquim Mangala may be returning to Porto while Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri also on the fringes of Guardiola’s plans
MANCHESTER UNITED
- Jose Mourinho has thrown money at improving his squad with the £109m world record capture of Paul Pogba on top off £30m apiece for Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s wages haven’t come cheap either
- Right-back remains a concern long-term for United, while another central defender would provide more strength in depth for the squad and is one area the United boss is looking at
- Brazilian full-back Fabinho has been a target at Monaco and Southampton’s Jose Fonte is still a possibility. United would also move quickly to snap up Raphael Varane if Real Madrid signalled they would do business
- Bastian Schweinsteiger is available while defender Will Keane is in the sights of Hull City as transfer deadline day looms. Marcos Rojo is another who may be shipped out before the window closes, along with Matteo Darmian
MIDDLESBROUGH
- Midfield linchpin Marten de Roon has been the most expensive acquisition in a £12m move from Atalanta, while playmaker Viktor Fischer may prove a snip at £3.75m from Ajax if he can sprinkle some stardust
- A few more goals, although a striker does not seem to be a priority to boss Aitor Karanka after he snapped up former Manchester City hitman Alvaro Negredo on a season-long loan from Valencia
- Calum Chambers seems certain to join on loan from Arsenal and provide the likes of Ben Gibson, Daniel Ayala and summer signing Bernardo Espinosa with some competition in central defence
- Winger Albert Adomah is wanted by Aston Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo and Boro will hope that they can hold onto him after the player's brother criticised the club's recent offer of a new contract
SOUTHAMPTON
- All change at the top with Claude Puel in charge, and signing Sofiane Boufal, Pierre-Emille Hojbjerg and Nathan Redmond have gone some way to plugging loss of key players for combined spend of £40m
- Saints look short of goals with Graziano Pelle and Sadio Mane gone and really need to bring in a new striker to share workload of Shane Long and Charlie Austin
- Utrecht’s giant striker Sebastien Haller looks to be the number one target amid claims talks have begun to agree a deal as Puel desperately looks to bring in a striker
- The need for a striker is urgent and the Haller deal could be rushed through, while Saints may also need to ward off a late bid from Manchester United for Jose Fonte
STOKE
- Joe Allen joined for £13million from Liverpool to provide the creative spark needed for the Potters
- A central midfielder and a right-winger are areas Mark Hughes still needs to strengthen ahead before the window slams shut
- Manchester City’s Wilfried Bony could still arrive at the Britannia Stadium on loan
- An £8.5million price tag has been put on Joselu as Deportivo la Coruna plan a late raid to replace Arsenal bound Lucas Perez
SUNDERLAND
- David Moyes has been playing catch-up after his late arrival at Sunderland, with a mixture of loan and cut-price deals – the most notable Adnan Januzaj for the year from Manchester United. But he still has more work to do
- Jermain Defoe urgently needs help shouldering the pressure of scoring goals, and defensively there are still concerns. Vito Mannone’s injury also leaves the goalkeeper position exposed
- Sevilla’s Vicente Iborra has been targeted but has doubts over a move, and Liverpool striker Danny Ings is another player if Jurgen Klopp can be persuaded to sanction a loan deal
- Moyes will be frantic trying to get business done, aware he is short across his squad. A short-term goalkeeper, experienced defender and a striker are absolute priorities
SWANSEA
- Striker Borja Baston is the Swans' biggest expense of the summer after they splashed out £15.5m to land the Spaniard from Atletico Madrid to compete with compatriot Fernando Llorente, while Leroy Fer and Mike van der Hoorn could prove astute buys
- Central defenders. They signed Alfie Mawson from Barnsley before coach Alan Curtis claimed that he would be their last signing of the window, but the backline sorely misses the leadership of Ashley Williams after his departure to Everton
- Leonardo Ulloa could arrive from Leicester to add extra firepower in attack while reports in Holland have linked them with Twente's Morocco international playmaker Hakim Ziyech to help take some of the creative burden away from Gylfi Sigurdsson
- Left-back Franck Tabanou was desperate to engineer a move away from the Liberty Stadium but has performed a remarkable U-turn and now claims he wants to stay and fight for his place. But Swans may still offload indecisive Frenchman
TOTTENHAM
- Tottenham have spent shrewdly during the summer, bringing in striker Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar for £17m and paying £11.5m to snare Victor Wanyama. They have recouped most of that outlay by selling Nacer Chadli (£13m), Alex Pritchard (£8m), DeAndre Yedlin (£5m) and Grant Ward (£600k)
- Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to bring in an attacking midfielder, and with Hugo Lloris out for the next few weeks, a short-term or 'one for the future' goalkeeper could well be signed up
- Spurs have been linked with Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha, and despite seemingly being knocked back in early advances, they could make another move. Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane, and recent reports have linked the club with Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko
- Midfielder Ryan Mason and attacker Heung-Min Son could both leave the club before the window closes, with loan moves the likely outcome for both
WATFORD
- New manager Walter Mazzarri has been able to sign nine players since taking charge with the £12.75m on Isaac Success and £11m capture of Juventus star Roberto Pereya catching the eye
- Midfield is an area of concern if Watford are to build on survival but Mazzarri may have to offload some players if he wants to do any more business
- The signing of Anderlecht striker Stefano Okaka yesterday may be the final piece of business done with no players on the horizon on deadline day
- Expect a quiet day around Vicarage Road unless someone comes in for prized assets Troy Deeney or Odion Oghalo – but most of the business at Watford has been done
WEST BROM
- Tony Pulis has only been able to make three signings so far because of the takeover of the club, but Nacer Chadli, Matty Phillips and Brendan Galloway are all astute signings and more are likely to follow
- Goalscoring is an obvious problem for the Baggies and Pulis has been actively trying to bring in new firepower after a deal to sign Diafro Sakho from West Ham fell through. Midfield also needs strengthening
- A surprise move for Portugal midfielder William Carvalho has come to light while Malaga’s Jose Camacho is also an option. Reviving the Sakho deal has also been mooted, and his West Ham teammate Enner Valencia is another who has been linked
- The Baggies could be among the busiest clubs, with Carvalho or Camacho midfield options and talks taking place with West Ham over Sakho or Valencia deals. And the usual on-off Saido Berahino deadline day saga is also expected
WEST HAM
- Slaven Bilic failed to net the top class striker he was after but they have still spent £52m on ten players. Record signing Andre Ayew is out until Christmas so a lot is expected of Simone Zaza after signing from Juventus on loan
- Bilic is urgently looking for a right-back and with injuries to Ayew and Carroll, another forward would be welcome if they succeed in offloading Diafro Sakho or Enner Valencia this week
- Manchester City’s Wilfried Bony is a deadline day option but any deal would depend on Sakho and Valencia leaving. Jack Wilshere has been linked but Hammers are not looking for midfielder
- West Brom could rekindle their interest in Sakho now his injury is cleared while Valencia may move to China, with the Baggies showing an interest.. Pedro Obiang’s future is unclear while youngster Reece Burke should head to Wigan on loan
