Marcus Rashford told he needs to be starting for Manchester United by Sam Allardyce despite England boss picking Daniel Sturridge and Joe Hart in squad
SAM ALLARDYCE told Marcus Rashford he must start for his club if he wants a spot in the England squad.
Which begs the question: What are Joe Hart and Daniel Sturridge doing in his 23 for the Slovakia clash?
But it was not enough to secure him a spot in Allardyce's squad for the World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
And the former Bolton, Newcastle and West Ham boss has now challenged Rashford to get regular game time with the Red Devils and bang in the goals for the under-21s - just like Harry Kane did.
Big Sam said: "I think having international experience in the under-21s will be invaluable for us down the line.
"And I think if he plays for Manchester United on a regular basis he would certainly he would be in my squad.
"But his inclusion only as a substitute – as good as it was against Hull City – the value of having a full game with Gareth Southgate (in the under-21s) will be invaluable to him.

"And later on, like Harry Kane where he made a massive impact last season, yes.
"But he’s only a young man. Let’s not heap too much pressure on him yet and go and let him have a feel for the under-21s and let’s hope he’s a star for them and scores goals for them and then he’ll give me that decision for the next squad I pick."
Allardyce confirmed that he will name his skipper tomorrow - with Rooney nailed on to be handed the armband.
And he also explained his decision to hand Michail Antonio a maiden call-up.
He added: "His attacking flair, final third delivery and goal record from a wide position. It's something that deserves to be in this squad, for me to have a look at.
"I'm looking forward to meeting him today and everybody. It has been well thought out, we've been in deep discussions."
