XABI ALONSO has nothing to prove in England, he has nothing to prove in Spain and he has nothing to prove in Germany - we all know he is a first-rate midfielder.
But in case you had forgotten for just a minute quite how brilliant the 34-year-old is - just watch his volley from Bayern Munich's opening Bundesliga game last night.
It was only eight minutes into Carlo Ancelotti's debut in the Bayern dugout - and if this set the scene for how Munich are about to go on under the popular Italian, their fans are in for a treat.
And not forgetting that the home side notched another five more goals for an emphatic 6-0 romp over Die Werderaner.
Alonso's goal came about after a sweet first touch from a headed ball out of defence.
He then rattled a shot on the half volley towards the goal as it nestled beautifully in the back of the net.
And boy did Twitter enjoy it.
