OZIL RETURN

Mesut Ozil trains with Arsene Wenger likely to turn to Germany star when Arsenal visit Watford

Playmaker yet to play this season after he reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016 with national team

MESUT OZIL took part in a full training session as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger prepares to turn to his star man against Watford.

The Gunners have suffered a spluttering start to the season having picked up just a point from their opening two matches.

Ozil, 27, has less than 20 minutes this season with Wenger opting top rest the playmaker after he helped Germany to the semi-final of Euro 2016.

But with the match at Vicarage Road now proving a must-win, Wenger is likely to turn to the man who led the Premier League with 19 assists last season.

Wenger said that he will make a decision on Ozil before Saturday but confirmed that Olivier Giroud, who played in the Euro 2016 final with France, will definitely not play.

He said: "He's not far now.

"That's a decision I have to make in the next 24 hours.

"It will be a similar squad. Not everybody is up to speed completely.

"We still have some players who are a little bit behind."

"Giroud is still a little bit fractional behind physically," Wenger added.

Wenger was all smiles during the session at London Colney.

The Gunners are close to completing the signings of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez, with reports that their medicals will be completed this weekend.

Mustafi is expected to move from Valencia for £35m on a five-year, while Perez has seen his £17.1m release clause activated.
