How do the inter-confederation play-offs work?

As well as the winner of the Wales, Scotland and Ukraine play-off, there were two places from outside Europe to be decided.

Australia beat Peru on penalties and Costa Rica beat ten-man New Zealand 1-0 to clinch the final two places.
