Arsenal and celeb fan Piers Morgan hammered by Barcelona star Gerard Pique over transfer failings
Former Manchester United man was doing a Twitter Q and A when the TV presenter chimed in
ARSENAL and celeb fan Piers Morgan have taken a hammering from Barcelona defender and former Man United man Gerard Pique.
The Catalan centre-back was enjoying a Twitter Q&A with fans on social media when the jowly Gunners fan chipped in with a cheeky request.
Morgan – a relentless critic of Arsene Wenger – asked: “Will you sign for Arsenal & put us out of our defensive misery?"
The 51-year-old footy fan got a swift response from the World Cup winner who replied: “It's very very difficult Piers. Ask your 'friend' Arsene to buy quality defenders!”
Arsenal currently have captain Per Mertesacker and Gabriel missing through injury while Calum Chambers and Rob Holding look too inexperienced for a full Premier League season.
But Wenger refuses to ditch the habit of a lifetime and pay a penny over the odds in the transfer window.
The Frenchman has been linked with West Brom’s Jonny Evans, Shokdran Mustafi of Valencia and Monaco's Marcel Tisserand.
But he has backed away from the negotiating table when hearing the hefty price tags being demanded.
The Emirates coach has even tried to tempt Phil Jones from bitter rivals Manchester United but old nemesis Jose Mourinho has blocked any dealings between the two clubs.
