Everything you need to know about the fiery new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte

ANTONIO CONTE was selected as the next manager to enter the lion's den at Stamford Bridge, making him Roman Abramovich's twelfth manager since he bought Chelsea in 2004.

And a winning start is exactly what the Oligarch ordered with Conte's Chelsea grinding out two 2-1 wins in the league and most recently a 3-2 win in the EFL Cup against Bristol Rovers.

Without any European football to distract what was a title winning squad just over a year ago, Conte will be expected to challenge on the three domestic fronts and take the side straight back into the Champions League.

Here's everything you need to know about the fiery Italian boss.

How old is Antonio Conte
Conte is currently aged 46 and was born on the 31st July 1969 in the Southern Italian city of Lecce, Conte joined his hometown club in 1985 and appeared 71 times for them in a six year period.

The central midfielder would eventually move onto none other than Juventus where he would stay for 13 seasons, playing nearly 300 times for the Italian giants.

Conte became no stranger to success and as a Juventus player he won the Serie A title five times and the Champions League trophy in 1995-96, becoming a favourite amongst the club's fans.

How tall is Antonio Conte
Conte stands at 1.78m, or 5ft 8in, a similar height to that of former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho who is just 5ft 7in.

How much is Antonio Conte paid?
It would not be surprising to hear that a Chelsea manager was on a pretty high salary and it is reported that Conte will be taking home £6.5 million a year whilst at Stamford Bridge.

This does however see him earning far less than Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho will be at the two Manchester clubs, both are paid a reported £15 million a season.

Conte will even be earning less than Arsenal's Arsene Wenger (£8 million) and Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp (£7 million).

Conte must know that it isn't always about the money, money, money.

League record as a manager

Juventus enjoyed a brilliant league record under Antonio Conte in the three seasons he was in charge of the Old Lady.

Conte was at the helm for 114 league games and the club lost just seven times in the league during that time - this included going an entire campaign undefeated in Conte's debut season.

This impressive record is likely to make even the biggest Serie A sceptic sit up and take notice.

It was certainly enough for the Italian FA to take notice as they picked Conte to become the national team's manager after Italy's poor World Cup campaign in 2014.

And Juventus was not Conte's first success story either after leading both Bari and Siena to Serie A during his time in charge of the Italian sides.

Cutting a controversial figure
The new Chelsea boss is no stranger to controversy.

In 2012 he was embroiled in that years Italian match fixing scandal after a former player accused him of failing to report match fixing when manager of Siena.

Conte denied the accusations but was initially banned for ten months - this was later reduced to four months.

In 2014, he drew criticism from Roberto Mancini after selecting the Brazilian-born Eder and Argentine born Franco Vazquez in the Italian squad for a Euro 2016 qualifying match.

Mancini said: "The Italian national team should be Italian. An Italian player deserves to play for the national team while someone who wasn't born in Italy, even if they have relatives, I don't think they deserve to."

And don't forget his touchline antics, which saw him diving into the crowd after Diego Costa's winner against West Ham in Chelsea's season opener at Stamford Bridge.

You have got to feel for the fourth official of any Chelsea v Liverpool games this season.

Who is Antonio Conte's wife?
Conte married his wife Elisabetta in 2013 having been together for over a decade before finally tying the knot.

Earlier this year, Andrea Pirlo said that Conte is "a beast with two wives" - Elisabetta and football.

The cultured midiflder described Conte's wife as "understanding" and clearly had some sympathy for anybody married to his former boss.

But Conte has shown off his romantic side by posting a message to his wife on their third anniversary on social media - O Antonio, Antonio - wherefore art thou Antonio?
