Paris Saint-Germain transfer news: Juventus are closing in on to sign midfielder Blaise Matuidi – now in advanced talks
Matuidi has been linked to several clubs around Europe this summer but it is Juventus who want to seal a deal this week
JUVENTUS are in advanced talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain's midfielder Blaise Matuidi, according to SunSport sources.
The Seria A club are negotiating with Matuidi to acquire his services this week before the transfer window closes.
Matuidi, 29, is reported to have agreed terms on a four-year contract and the Italian champions are close to agreeing a fee.
The French capital club are asking €40m for the creative midfielder but Juventus are offering €35m with add-ons.
Matuidi was expected to stay in the Ligue 1 with Paris SG when chairman insisted before the new season 'he is a pillar of the team'.
However, the French midfielder has not been included in new boss Unai Emery's starting XI since the Ligue 1 kicked-off, which left questions marks regarding his future with the club.
Emery has previously insisted he wants Matuidi to stay but was not able to guarantee that would definitely happen, with Mino Raiola - also Paul Pogba's agent - now claimed to be working on sealing the deal.
Team-mate Thiago Motta insisted last week that it would be a mistake to sell Matuidi.
Motta said: “I appreciate Blaise on and off the pitch. He has done a fantastic job. My advice to him is to stay here.
“If we lose a player like Blaise now, we will lose a lot.”
Manchester United and Chelsea were also interested to sign the Frenchman this summer, but nothing more than enquiries took place.
