Diego's doppelganger

Would the real Diego Costa please stand up? Chelsea striker’s brother shares photo which shows the pair looking identical

Jiar Costa sparked confusion as to 'who was the real Diego' after Spaniard celebrated bagging the winner against Watford

DIEGO COSTA'S brother sparked mass confusion amongst fans when he uploaded a picture to Instagram of himself with the Chelsea striker and a friend.

Jair Costa's snap caused a big debate as to which one was Diego as the pair looked almost identical except for the beard.

Just to resolve any confusion, older brother Jair, who is donning a Chelsea shirt, is the man taking the selfie whilst Diego relaxes in his vest on the sofa.

It is unclear whether Jair has 'Costa' printed on the back of his shirt.

Diego celebrated his match winner against Watford by spending time with his brother and friend Henrique Carvalho before Jair alerted the world of the duo's striking resemblance.

The striker had a fully fledgling beard during the match against Watford but if it wasn't for his shave then people could be excused for falling in the trap of mistaken identity.

Costa has started the season in typical fashion - scoring the winning goal in two consecutive games but controversially should have been sent off before the 27-year-old bagged the match winners.

In the opening fixture against West Ham, he received a yellow card for dissent and then produced a reckless lunge on keeper Adrian which went unpunished by the referee.

And then against the Hornets, Costa was already on a booking for dissent when he appeared to dive on the edge of the area but escaped without a second yellow card.

Just two games into the new season and Blues boss Antonio Conte has already warned the unpredictable striker to not lose concentration.

He said: "Diego must be focused on the match.

"Because for me, the most important thing is the match - it's important to pay attention, because he is an important player and he can score a lot of goals and I want him to put himself in the game and not to think of other situations."
