Liverpool and Atletico Madrid’s nostalgic starting XIs from Europa League clash in 2010 including Gerrard and De Gea

SERGIO AGUERO and David De Gea were part of the Atletico Madrid team that faced Liverpool in the Europa League way back in 2010.
The two teams recommence their rivalry at the Wanda Metropolitano in their Champions League group stage clash tonight.
It comes 19 months after Diego Simeone's side dumped the Reds out of the competition in the last 16.
Liverpool were the reigning champs having lifted ol' Big Ears in 2019, a year after losing to Real Madrid in the Kiev final.
Atletico Madrid know that feeling having fallen at the last hurdle against their bitter city rivals in 2014 and 2016.
But 11 years ago, Liverpool and Atletico were facing off in the Europa League.
Atleti - then under the guidance of Quique Sanchez Flores - won the first leg of the semi-final 1-0.
And in the return leg at Anfield, Rafa Benitez's men won 2-1 after extra-time meaning the Spaniards went through on away goals.

Uruguay legend Diego Forlan scored the crucial goal, with the tragic late Jose Antonio Reyes providing the assist.
Aguero partnered Forlan up front with Simao, Paulo Assuncao and Raul Garcia completing the midfield.
Juan Velera, Luis Perea, Alvaro Dominguez and captain Antonio Lopez made up the back four in front of De Gea.
The goalkeeper joined Manchester United a year later with Aguero making the switch to rivals City in the same summer.
For Liverpool, De Gea's compatriot Pepe Reina was between the sticks.
He was protected by a back four of Javier Mascherano, Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson.
Johnson is the only member of the Liverpool team with a Premier League winner's medal compared to Aguero (four), De Gea and Reyes in the Atleti side.
Lucas Leiva was the deep-lying midfielder with Alberto Aquilani and legendary captain Steven Gerrard pushing on.
And the starting XI was completed by a front three of Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel and Yossi Benayoun.

The Israeli set up Aquilani just before half-time for the opening goal before turning scorer five minutes into extra-time to put Liverpool ahead on aggregate before Forlan struck.

That sent Atletico into the final where beat Fulham in Hamburg.
Forlan was again the hero with both goals in a 2-1 win after extra-time.
