Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho claims club is ‘evolving’ under him as he hails Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba
Old Trafford manager was full of praise for his Red Devils after resounding 2-0 victory over Southampton
JOSE MOURINHO claims his Manchester United team are 'evolving' under him.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic's double sealed a 2-0 win for United against Southampton at Old Trafford on Friday.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho said: "The way we are playing, the kind of football we are trying to play, sometimes we don’t but we always try to do that kind of football. The way the team defends because it is now zonal which is much more difficult.
"[It is] evolution, step by step. Some players like Paul, others who have been [here] two weeks, three weeks, four weeks, they were arriving step by step.
"It's impossible to demand more from the boys. Everyone is working really hard."
Ibra's brace means he has four in three for his new club after netting in the Community Shield.
And Mourinho was full of praise for the experienced Swede.
He said: "He’s very good in the air, but hes very good with his feet.
"He holds the ball better than anyone, when he moves he is great. He drops back, gives the team another option.
"I’m really happy with his performance."
Paul Pogba made his second Red Devils debut at the Theatre of Dreams and impressed over the full 90 minutes.
Mourinho, who demanded United break the bank to sign the £89million midfielder from Juventus this summer, said he "couldn't be happier with him".
