Ex-Arsenal ace David Luiz ‘turns down Marseille and Salernitana transfer offers and wants return to Brazil’
DAVID LUIZ remains a free agent and wants to move back to Brazil, despite reportedly being offered a contract by Marseille.
But the defender, 34, turned down the opportunity to link up with former Arsenal team-mates Matteo Guendouzi and William Saliba in France.
The Brazilian also received an offer from Serie A club Salernitana which he rejected, according to French outlet .
The report suggests Marseille have been keen on Luiz all summer.
The French side's manager Jorge Sampaoli and president Pablo Longoria reportedly held talks with the former Chelsea star but a contract was not agreed.
Instead, it is believed Luiz is seeking a return to his native Brazil and Flamengo have been linked with a move for him.
The two parties have been in talks but Luiz will reportedly only join if the project is right for him.
Luiz has been a free agent since the end of last season, with the Gunners deciding not to renew his £100,000-a-week contract.

Mikel Arteta and Edu shaped their transfer spending by opting for young players.
Ben White, 23, came in as Luiz's replacement, with deadline day signing Takehiro Tomiyasu also able to play central defence.
Luiz spent 14 years playing in Europe, first signing for Benfica before moving to the Premier League, but it appears he could now return home to Brazil.
