Ex-Leicester City striker vowed to host the show in his pants if the Foxes won last season's Premier League title
GARY LINEKER stunned British football fans by stripping off for the first Match of the Day of the 2016-17 Premier League season.
The Leicester City legend and fan posted a throw-away Tweet back in December vowing to present the show in his pants if the Foxes maintained their form and clinched the title – the rest is history.
Claudio Ranieri’s men wrote themselves in the history books by winning the league by 10 points at the wild odds of 5000/1 .
And internet users have constantly reminded the former striker of his regrettable vow from last season.
MotD were sending out suggestive messages in the build-up to the return of the BBC1 show.
And the host with the most has come good on his promise by ditching the tailored shirt and trousers for a much more casual outfit.
Just before he peeled off, the genuine star admitted he was anxious but was happy to stick to his word after such an amazing achievement from his boyhood club.
He said: "I am doing my best to pluck up the courage to go there with just my undies on, as I said I would.
"When I tweeted that silly bet back in December, I categorically knew there was zero chance of Leicester winning the league. Zero chance. It happened but it was magical, it was great.
"It is a one off and a sporting miracle that has landed me in my underwear."
Lineker had a bad start to the day after the champions fell to an opening day defeat to newly promoted Hull.
And it did not get any better as pundits Ian Wright and Alan Shearer ribbed the chilly looking TV star mercilessly for his big reveal.
