Former Liverpool star Jordon Ibe reckons there’s no difference between old side and new club Bournemouth this season

Cherries broke their club transfer record with £15m swoop for winger this summer and will be hoping he proves his worth

BOURNEMOUTH ace Jordon Ibe reckons his new club are on the same level as former employers Liverpool.

The Cherries paid a club record £15million to prise the winger away from Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp having no qualms about letting him go.

But some Liverpool fans were surprised at Ibe’s exit after he made 41 appearances for them last season following loan spells at Birmingham and Derby.

The 20-year-old was tipped to replace Raheem Sterling after he joined Manchester City for £49m the year before, but Klopp has instead placed his faith in new signings such as Georginio Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane.

Liverpool have been tipped to challenge for a top four finish in the upcoming campaign, with some pundits backing a title push.

On the other hand, Bournemouth beat the drop by five points last season and are likely to be involved in another relegation battle again.

But Ibe reckons he has not downgraded ahead of Sunday’s home clash against Manchester United, insisting his move away from Liverpool to Bournemouth makes perfect sense.

He told The Times: “It was a tough one but I needed to think what was best for me, which is playing, and when you scale it up Liverpool and Bournemouth are fighting for the same things.
