WE really are trying to contain our excitement about the start of the new season.
But hey, we’re happy to admit – we’re all getting that warm, fuzzy feeling again that only football can induce.
And the start of any Premier League campaign means the return of fantasy football.
So many of you have already signed up, but to those who haven’t; what the bloody hell are you playing at?!
If you’re one of those yet to register or if you’re just struggling to nail down your perfect team, listen up.
Because these are the top 10 most picked players so far:
1 Sergio Aguero
Hardly surprising, but nearly half of you wily managers out there have plumped for the Manchester City striker.
2 Dimitri Payet
Last season’s signing of the season has seen his stock rise exponentially in the last 12 months.
He’s some distance behind Aguero in the most picked standings but still comfortably in second.
3 Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Do you pick Zlatan, or does he pick you?
Either way, he’s featured in roughly a third of every Dream Team side so far as so many of you are backing you to continue his startling career in the Premier League.
4 Luke Shaw
Shaw missed pretty much the entirety of last season but is very much back with a bang this year.
At a measly price tag of just £2.5m, Shaw’s a must-have in your defence.
5 David De Gea
Manchester United players are very popular and De Gea is unsurprisingly the highest picked goalkeeper by some distance (the next is Fraser Forster).
Jose Mourinho should organise the United backline, making them even more devilish to break down.
6 Kevin De Bruyne
Simply a points machine. It’s scary to think last season was meant to be his ‘settling’ season and yet he still racked up so goals and assists.
A big game player and always a candidate for those vital ‘Star Man’ awards.
7 John Stones
Nearly a quarter of you have backed Stones so far this season – the highest picked centre back.
Surprising?
Maybe, but under Guardiola he has the tutor to fulfil his remarkable potential and at £3m he’s a steal.
8 Hector Bellerin
Bellerin’s stock has risen massively since Mathieu Debuchy’s demise and made that right back slot his own at Arsenal.
Full backs are a must-have in your Dream Team – which makes Bellerin a prize asset.
9 Eric Bailly
Relatively unheard of before his whopping £30m move to United this summer, Bailly is already seen as the answer to a lot of the Red Devils’ problems (getting Phil Jones as far away from the pitch as possible).
At £3.5m, he’s £2m cheaper than his centre-back partner Chris Smalling.
10 Harry Kane
After a rollercoaster 12 months for Kane Dream Team managers haven’t been deterred by his awful Euro 2016 showing.
If Tottenham can be anywhere near as prominent as they were last season, he’s guaranteed to hit 20 league goals again.
