Tottenham terminate Serge Aurier’s contract a year early after failing to find buyer during transfer window

TOTTENHAM have cancelled Serge Aurier's contract after failing to flog the player to another club.
The 28-year-old leaves North London 12 months before his Spurs deal was due to expire and becomes a free agent.
Tottenham announced the cancellation of the right-back's contract shortly before the transfer window closed on Tuesday evening.
Spurs completed the signing of right-back Emerson Royal on a five-year deal for an initial £21million from Barcelona earlier in the day.
They also have former Wolves star Matt Doherty on their books, with Aurier deemed surplus to requirements.
Aurier said on leaving: "I have really enjoyed my time at Spurs and would like to thank the club and the fans, but I feel now is the right time for me to move onto a new challenge."
The Ivory Coast international arrived in the Premier League from Paris Saint-Germain for £23m in August 2017.
Aurier made his Tottenham debut in a 3-1 Champions League win against Borussia Dortmund the following month.

He struggled to get into the team ahead of Kieran Trippier during his first two seasons at the club, making just 25 Premier League appearances.
Aurier became a regular after Trippier joined Atletico Madrid ahead of the 2019-20 campaign, going on to play 33 Prem games that term.
But he had to share his playing time with Doherty last season, featuring only 19 times in the Prem.
Aurier has also played for Lens and Toulouse during his career.
Spurs added: "We thank Serge for his service and wish him well for the future."
