Manchester United transfer news: Andreas Pereira wanted by Middlesbrough as Jose Mourinho wields the transfer axe
Young Brazilian is not in his manager's plans for next season and is also a target for Premier League champions Leicester
MANCHESTER UNITED youngster Andreas Pereira is wanted by Middlesbrough, according to reports.
The 20-year-old is not in Jose Mourinho’s plans for the upcoming season and has been told to sort out a loan move before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.
SunSport understands that champions Leicester are weighing up a permanent deal for Pereira, but the claims Boro are keen on taking him for the upcoming campaign.
It’s said that Aitor Karanka – Mourinho’s close friend and former assistant at Real Madrid – has already made an enquiry after trying to land the Brazilian last season.
But Pereira is keen to remain at Old Trafford and is willing to just figure in cup games under his new manager.
He said last month: “I want to show the manager, to show the people around the club, to show the players that I can help this season.
“It’s very important for me. I want to show this in training and just keep working hard.”
However, Mourinho is keen to see Pereira play a full season elsewhere before making a decision on his long-term future.
The Portguese tactician has already let Paddy McNair and Donald Love leave for Sunderland, with Adnan Januzaj expected to join them at the Stadium of Light.
And Boro will be hoping they can be the ones to land Pereira after tying down key defender Daniel Ayala to a new contract.
Karanka has already spent big on a number of players including Victor Valdes, Alvaro Negredo, Antonio Barragan, Viktor Fischer and Marten de Roon.
But there could yet be more new faces at the Riverside, with Boro also interested in centre-back James Chester, full-back Fabio and midfielder Enzo Zidane.
