MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper David de Gea uploaded a picture to his Instagram that would have certainly left Real Madrid president Florentino Perez riddled with jealousy.
The Spaniard treated his followers to a selfie with world record signing Paul Pogba to leave Madrid chiefs pondering what could have been.
Last year it seemed inevitable that De Gea would join the Spanish giants and Madrid were also in a race with United for midfielder Pogba.
Even the most optimistic of Manchester United fans wouldn't have predicted that both of these world class players would be playing at Old Trafford at the start of the 2016/17 season.
Pogba signed for the Red Devils early this week for a world record fee of £109 million making Manchester United the biggest spenders in the Premier League this summer.
The French midfielder left the Theatre of Dreams in 2012 but has made a dramatic return to his old club even though Jose Mourinho can not offer champions league football.
De Gea's departure to the Bernabeu looked inevitable last summer until his dream move broke down on Deadline day due to a administration issue.
Since then De Gea has committed his future to united signing a 5-year contract at old Trafford.
