Man Utd in talks with Dortmund over loan transfer for Diogo Dalot despite him being their ONLY backup for Wan-Bissaka

MANCHESTER UNITED are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over allowing defender Diogo Dalot to leave on loan.

The 22-year-old right-back signed from Porto for £19million three years ago, but has only featured 35 times in that period.

And according to , the Red Devils are open to Dalot leaving, intially on temporary basis, before the window shuts on August 31.

This is despite the Portuguese international being the only obvious back-up to established right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Old Trafford.

That is because youngsters Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe have already been farmed out on loan to Norwich and Aston Villa.

Dalot spent last season on loan with AC Milan but returned to the club at the end of the campaign.

And he seemed to be working his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's thoughts with some impressive pre-season displays.

He was then on the bench for Man Utd's draw with Southampton on Sunday.

But it now looks as though he will be going back out on loan as his Man Utd career continues to stall.

Dortmund are thought to want a deal to be a loan with the option to buy next summer.

AC Milan and Bayern Munich have also shown interest in Dalot.

United have been linked with Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier this summer, who could fill the hole left by Dalot.

But the England man will not come cheap with Atleti insisting on a £34m fee.
