Fastest players in Premier League this season revealed with Adam Armstrong top and Chelsea’s Rudiger seventh
NEW Southampton signing Adam Armstrong has clocked the fastest speed in the Premier League this season in a shock statistic.
Manchester City speedster Kyle Walker is yet to beat the top nine runs this term, with Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger posting a surprise pace.
Armstrong, 24, has wasted no time in getting up to speed in the Prem after his £15million move from Championship hopefuls Blackburn.
The ex-Newcastle striker has clocked a rapid 22.15mph this season, edging Adama Traore - one of the league's quickest players - to the top spot.
The Wolves star's top speed this term is 22.12mph, although many expect him to beat that effort in the coming weeks.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the omission of Walker, widely regarded as the fastest player in the Premier League.
The England defender clocked a top speed of 23.49mph during the 2019-20 campaign - marginally quicker than Traore.
Walker has only played 90 minutes so far this season, though, and should get his name on the leaderboard in the coming weeks.

Third on this term's list is Wilfried Zaha, posting an impressive 21.88mph, with Southampton youngster Nathan Tella clocking 21.75mph.
Watford winger Ismaila Sarr has left his mark on the Prem with a swift speed of 21.67mph, slightly faster than Patrick Bamford.
The Leeds striker is not known for his blistering pace but evidently has it in his locker after clocking 21.53mph for Marcelo Bielsa's side.
The seventh fastest speed of 21.38mph belongs to Rudiger, marginally quicker than Crystal Palace talent Tyrick Mitchell's pace of 21.35mph.
Last - and by no means least - is Leeds winger Raphinha, leaving defenders behind with a rapid speed of 21.26mph.
