The hungry ex-Juventus midfielder obviously turned to one of his old haunts and called up Wings restaurant.

It's not clear if Wings owner, Mr Wing, delivered his meal personally during Pogba's previous spell at Old Trafford  - but he did on Monday night.

Onlookers stared as a suited and booted Mr Wing made his way to the Lowry Hotel, where Pogba checked in after formerly completing his world record move.

Wings was also former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal's favourite restaurant during his time in England and Pogba was spotted there back in December as speculation that he would return to the Premier League began to increase.

Football's worst kept secret was finally confirmed the transfer at 12.45am on Tuesday morning, with United fans baffled as to why the news was buried in the middle of the night.

Pogba joins Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhiraryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as summer signings at Old Trafford as new manager Jose Mourinho continues his summer revamp of the United squad.

Pogba said he was 'delighted' after signing a five-year deal to rejoin the club he left in 2012.

“It has always been a club with a special place in my heart and I am really looking forward to working with José Mourinho," he said.

"I always enjoyed playing in front of the fans and can’t wait to make my contribution to the team. This is the right club for me to achieve everything I hope to in the game.”

United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward agreed the deal with Juve directors Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici, as well as the player’s agent Mino Raiola.

Raiola is set to pocket a staggering £20m fee from the deal.

The move eclipses Gareth Bale's £86million switch from Tottenham to Real Madrid, which was the previous high transfer spend.

Pogba has holidayed in the United States over the last four weeks and has fuelled speculation about his future with a series of social media posts.

He had been linked with Real Madrid with Zinedine Zidane keen on a move for the midfielder, who shone at Euro 2016.

The Frenchman is set to train with United this week but is unlikely to play against Bournemouth in his side's Premier League opener.
