The England winger was labelled an international flop after a poor display at Euro 2016 but looks to have bounced back under the Spaniard.
Sterling dubbed himself 'The Hated One' following his poor performances in France and suffered more criticism when a friend posted pictures of the 21-year-old's extravagant house.
It features a bathroom complete with matching silver toilet and bidet and a vulgar glittering jewel-encrusted sink.
Back on City duty Sterling set up Sergio Aguero for a goal in City's 3-2 friendly defeat to Arsenal in Gothenburg at the weekend
Guardiola was impressed with Sterling's flexibility, saying:
"The two goals we scored came because we attacked the byline.
"Of course Sterling likes to play on the left, but that is when it is good to know the players.
"The last two games he has played on the right and he did it really well."
But admits he has yet to establish his best XI.
He added: "All the players are going to play an important role so we cannot judge after three friendly games which players are going to play all the season.
"With Jesus Navas, Nolito and Leroy Sane, there is plenty of competition for places.
"There are a lot of games and players cannot play every three days so the players who are ready will play more."
