Jose Mourinho opts for an Italian, dining at Manchester restaurant San Carlo with his trusted advisers, including assistant Rui Faria
Old Trafford boss went for a slap-up dinner in the heart of the city as he prepares for Wayne Rooney's testimonial match
JOSE MOURINHO shared a dinner with his trusted Manchester United staff on Tuesday night as he prepares for his first season in charge at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese boss, 53, was dining at San Carlo in the city centre - where 24 hours earlier Sergio Aguero was snapped with new Manchester City signing Leroy Sane - alongside his inner circle.
Among the group were Rui Faria - the Special One's long-time assistant manager - as well as coaches Emilio Alvarez, Giovanni Cerra and Ricardo Formosinho.
But before the new season gets started, Jose will aim to lay down a marker as his United take on Everton in Wayne Rooney's testimonial - the Portuguese boss' first home game as manager.
Despite signing a three-year deal at the club in May this year, Mourinho is yet to taste any action at Old Trafford - and Roo's landmark showdown will be the perfect chance to get the ball rolling.

And Jose and Co dined at the famous San Carlo restaurant as they plotted how to pick up the win.
Amongst his advisers was Faria, who has followed Mourinho around the world, acting as trusty No2 during spells at Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, the Blues for a second time and now United.
Wednesday night's clash will make history, regardless of the result, as it will be the first ever match to be streamed live on Facebook.
On the pioneering move, Rooney said he was happy his game would be beamed out to a potential audience of 1.7billion people - with Mourinho promising to field a strong side.
The 245-goal United star said: "I am delighted my testimonial game will be streamed globally, which will hopefully raise awareness and increase donations."
Following Roo's testimonial, Jose will need to prepare for his first competitive game, as his 2016 FA Cup winners take on 2015-16 Premier League champions Leicester in the Community shield on August 7.
