With a huge £1million prize pot on offer, the likes of Jamie Vardy or Harry Kane could change your life so read our advice to find out the best players to pick.
YESTERDAY’S MEN?
Looking back at those players who topped the positional stats in last year’s Dream Team. Can they do it again?
When you’re picking your Dream Team you need to have a spine that’s both dependable and with a proven track record in the competition and, with that in mind, it’s worth considering those players that led the way last year.
Yes, these are players that topped the charts in each of their respective positions in 2015/16 and the ones who seem to deliver week in, week out, come rain or shine.
They are, in short, the men you need in your Dream Team.
GOALKEEPER
David De Gea
Man Utd
Price: £5 million
Points in 2015/16: 154
Since he signed that new contract at Old Trafford last summer, De Gea has been Manchester United’s star performer and the fact that he’s now won the club’s Player of the Year award three years running tells you everything about how good he is and, for that matter, how poor United have been. He’ll be the first name on Jose Mourinho’s teamsheet this term.
DEFENDER
Daley Blind
Man Utd
Price: £4 million
Points in 2015/16: 251
He may not look like a centre-half but Daley Blind’s conversion from holding midfielder to defensive stalwart was one of the few successes of Louis van Gaal’s tenure at Old Trafford. He was so consistent last season that he ended the campaign a massive 66 points ahead
MIDFIELDER
Price: £6 million
Points in 2015/16: 204
The Algerian international is living proof that you don’t always have to splash the cash in Dream Team to bag those all-important points. The Foxes’ wideman was simply sensational last time out season, weighing in with 18 goals and 11 assists and deservedly picking up the PFA Player of the Year Award too. His price has rocketed this year, up from £1.5 million to £6 million, but the big question is whether he’ll still be at the King Power come the start of the season.
STRIKER
Harry Kane
Price: £7 million
Points in 2015/16: 307
Despite a sluggish start to the domestic season last year, Kane soon found his form and ended the year not merely as the Premier League’s Golden Boot winner but as the highest points scorer in Dream Team, breaking the magical 300-point barrier. But while his Dream Team value has risen once more – up by another £2 million – his lethargic performances in Euro 2016 suggest he may be on the verge of burnout. We’ll soon see.
