  • CHRIS BOOST

Christian Eriksen made an emotional return to Denmark training ahead of their last-16 clash with Wales following his release from hospital, writes DAVE FRASER.

The midfielder, 29, collapsed in the first-half of his nation's Euro 2020 opener against Finland after suffering a cardiac arrest, needing 13 minutes of CPR and even a defibrillator to keep him alive.

Eriksen underwent an operation to fit a 'heart-starting' device called an ICD to help prevent future problems.

Later that week, the Inter Milan ace was discharged from hospital in a major boost.

And now Eriksen has visited his Denmark pals at training ahead of their last-16 showdown with Wales.

  • THE TEAMSHEETS ARE IN!

  • VENUE CHECK

Wales have lost both of their previous matches in Amsterdam, losing against the Netherlands in September 1988 (0-1) and June 2014 (0-2).

  • TOGETHER STRONGER

Wales have only lost two of their last 16 competitive matches in all competitions (W10 D4), although those two defeats have arrived in their last five such matches – they haven’t suffered consecutive competitive defeats since June 2019 (1-2 v Croatia and 0-1 v Hungary).

  • DYNAMIC DUO

Wales have had a combined 97 shot attempts at EURO 2016 and EURO 2020, with 49 of those coming from Gareth Bale (33) and Aaron Ramsey (16), equating to just over half of their total efforts at goal.

  • HEAD-TO-HEAD

None of the 10 previous meetings between Wales and Denmark in all competitions have finished level, with Wales winning four to Denmark’s six.

This is the first meeting between the sides since November 2018, with Denmark winning 2-1 in a Nations League match.

Denmark have won each of their last three competitive meetings with Wales in a run stretching back to June 1999.

This is the first meeting between the sides in a major tournament.

  • CARD HAPPY

A lot of you have been asking on Twitter about what happens to yellow cards at Euro 2020 and when they are reset.

Good question - and it turns out they will all be wiped AFTER the quarter-final stage.

As a result, a number of Welsh players on a caution today must be careful not to pick up another booking or risk missing a potential last-eight clash.

This includes Keiffer Moore, Joe Allen and Chris Gunter.

  • STAGE IS SET

Not long to go until we get the team news, with Danish fans in Amsterdam now streaming towards the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Fancy calling this one? The bookies have Denmark as big favourites, probably due to their 'home' advantage and crushing win over Russia.

    • Denmark to win - 9/10
    • Draw - 11/5
    • Wales - 4/1
  • MONTAGE TIME

You knew it would come eventually.

But after two days starved of no Euro action, we're hyped...

  • LAST HURRAH?

All eyes on Gareth Bale today, who is yet to find the net in Euro 2020 despite numerous big chances.

The Welsh star was coy on his international future in the build-up to this one...

  • FLYING THE FLAG

Welsh fans might not be able to be there in person today, but supporters back in Cardiff are making the best of it.

Under three hours until the off now in Amsterdam - nervous yet?

  • FAN POWER

Just how much of an advantage will the Danes have today with this backing on the terraces?

  • EARLY TEAM NEWS

Wales will be without the defensive services of rising star Ethan Ampadu after he saw red during his side’s loss to Italy.

The Chelsea centre-back received a one-match ban after being sent off for a challenge on forward Federico Bernardeschi.

Meanwhile Denmark boss Hjulmand could be tempted to give more minutes to Andreas Cornelius.

The forward nabbed himself a goal during his team's ruthless drubbing of Russia.

Cornelius, 28, who spent last term on loan at Parma, is well known to some Wales fans for his underwhelming spell at Cardiff City.

The Atalanta ace failed to score during a one-season stint with the Bluebirds following his club record £8million move from FC Copenhagen in 2013.

  • THE FORM BOOK

The European rivals go head-to-head for the first time since Denmark beat Wales 2-1 in Cardiff in a Nations League encounter in 2018.

Denmark bounced back with a vengeance in their final Group B clash after registering losses in their two opening matches.

Before the Euros, Denmark had lost just FOUR of their last 26 international fixtures going all the way back to 16 November 2018 when they last played Wales.

Meanwhile Wales made their way to the last-16 by qualifying second behind Italy in Group B.

The players secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw and 2-0 win against Switzerland and Turkey before falling to a narrow 1-0 loss to the Azzurri.

  • DANISH INVASION

    Amsterdam is most certainly red.

The Danes have arrived in numbers, with 16,000 lucky fans allowed into the Amsterdam ArenA for tonight's clash.

And the beer is already flowing...

  • STATS DO LIE

We talked earlier about how Wales are the sum of their parts.

This combined XI from WhoScored is powered by stats from international matches this year - and it's more than harsh.

Just two Welsh players make the grade, with Danny Ward and Gareth Bale the lucky pair.

  • ON THE BOX

With no fans allowed, it's the pub or the sofa today for the Welsh.

Every game of this year's tournament is on free-to-air TV in the UK.

You can catch this one live on BBC ONE, or S4C if you want Welsh language comms.

  • ON THE SAME PAGE

It's devastating for Wales that they can't have fans at the game today, but Rob Page believes it will only spur on his side more.

"The support we’ve had back home, as much as it is frustrating for everybody – staff, players and supporters – that the supporters can’t be out here, the messages we’ve had..

"We know that everybody, come the kick-off, will be behind us."

  • IT'S A KNOCKOUT

Wales must be getting pretty used to this.

Once again the Dragons are roaring at the Euros, breezing through a tough group to set up a last-16 showdown with Denmark.

Rob Page's side have proved more than the sum of their parts, with the caretaker boss impressing in his short time at the helm.

Today though they face their toughest challenge yet, taking on the Danes in Amsterdam and without any of their Red Wall to cheer them on.

And Denmark bring huge momentum - and emotion - into the match after their brilliant 4-1 win over Russia.

Wales though will feel that they have earned their place in the game today and can once again be underestimated. Just like in 2016.

And we all know what happened then.

We'll be bringing you early team news and build-up from Holland, where kick-off is slated for 5pm BST.
