HUNGAR STRIKE

How England could avoid France, Germany or Portugal showdown in last 16 at Euro 2020

ENGLAND sealed top spot in Group D after beating the Czech Republic 1-0 at Wembley.

But the identity of Gareth Southgate's side's next opponents is still yet to be revealed.

The Three Lions will face the runners-up of Group F - otherwise known as the 'Group of Death'.

Fans may view a potential fixture against France, Germany or Portugal with trepidation.

But Hungary could yet still be England next opponents.

Currently occupying second place are Germany, after their impressive 4-2 victory over Portugal on Saturday.

That could all change, however.

If Hungary can beat Germany on matchday three, with France defeating Portugal, the Hungarians would finish as runners-up - and therefore be England's next opponents.

Should the Portuguese draw with France, however, they would finish above the Hungarians on head to head - courtesy of their 3-0 victory over them matchday one.

A Portugal draw with France coupled with a Hungary win over Germany would see Cristiano Ronaldo and Co rock up to Wembley next Tuesday.

Should the Germans beat Hungary, and France draw with Portugal, Joachim Low's side would leapfrog the 2018 World Cup winners into top spot.

Which would see the Three Lions have to face Didier Deschamps' star-studded French team in the Round of 16.

If France and Germany both win, Wembley would host a rematch of one of its most famous-ever occasions - the 1966 World Cup final against Die Mannschaft.
