Juan Foyth completes permanent Villarreal transfer from Tottenham as LaLiga club exercise option to buy
JUAN FOYTH has completed a £13million permanent transfer to Villarreal from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Argentine initially joined the Spanish side on a season-long loan last summer after being frozen out by former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho.
Foyth, 23, impressed for the Yellow Submarine - making 32 appearances for Unai Emery's side.
He showed his versatility for his new side, featuring regularly at centre-back, right-back and in midfield.
His loan spell culminated in playing 88 minutes of Villarreal's Europa League final win over Manchester United.
A £13m option to buy clause was inserted into the initial loan deal.
And Villarreal saw enough quality to trigger it.
Foyth joined Spurs from Estudiantes as a talented teenager in 2017.
It took time for him to break into Mauricio Pochettino's first-team, and he was limited to just eight appearances during his maiden campaign - with none coming in the Premier League.
He was more involved during the following season, making 17 outings during 2018-19.

Two of these came in crunch Champions League clashes with Borussia Dortmund and Ajax as Spurs blazed their way to the final.
Foyth unfortunately began the 2019-20 season out with an ankle injury.
His 32nd and final Spurs appearance came against Norwich in December 2019, during which he was substituted at half-time after making a mistake in the build-up to a Canaries goal.
The youngster was frozen out after this point, only once even appearing on the substitutes' bench in the Premier League before being shipped off.
Foyth's talent has been recognised by Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni, with the defender having won 12 caps for his country alongside Lionel Messi and Co.
