MANCHESTER UNITED defender Luke Shaw has admitted he thought his career was over after his horrendous leg break last season.
The 21-year-old was left rolling on the pitch in agony after breaking his right leg in two places following a challenge against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League in September.
With the promising star missing the rest of the campaign and this summer's European Championships, Shaw finally made a return to action to a rapturous reception from 5,500 United fans in the 2-0 friendly victory against Wigan.
Describing his return as the "best feeling ever", the left-back admitted that he had doubts that he would never play football again.
"I think when I did it (the injury) the first thought that went through my head was 'Am I going to play football again or how long am I going to be out for?'," he said at a press conference ahead of United's International Champions Cup match against Borussia Dortmund.
"It wasn't too much about the pain because I could deal with that. Yeah there was a fear about how long it was going to take or if I was even going to be back playing football again."
