SAM ALLARDYCE’S chances of becoming the new England boss rose after claims the FA want Eddie Howe to be his No2.

A three-man FA panel of Dan Ashworth, Martin Glenn and David Gill want to speak to the Bournemouth chief when he returns from the club’s USA tour on Friday.

Howe, 38, is reluctant to quit the Cherries as they prepare for their second season in the top flight.

But the FA want to explore the idea of one of England’s brightest young bosses working alongside Allardyce, currently in the hotseat at Sunderland.

And this scenario will allow Howe to keep his position at Bournemouth while learning the ropes at international level.

Big Sam has held talks over the top job although Steve Bruce and Jurgen KlSinsmann are also expected to be interviewed.

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp has claimed he had a meeting with Ashworth.

But the ex-Tottenham manager does not appear to be in running.
