Pokemon Go: Bemused Marcel Schmelzer posts picture of all of his Borussia Dortmund team-mates engrossed in mobile game

The smartphone game is taking over the world one computerised creature at a time – but Schmelzer doesn't get it

Pokemon Go is taking over the world – but Marcel Schmelzer is having none of it.

The confused Borussia Dortmund defender posted this picture today of his team-mates glued to the addictive smartphone game on the bus as they travelled for their pre-season friendly against St Paul.

A bewildered Schmelzer uploaded this picture to his Twitter account of his team-mates, including Ousmane Dembele and one-time Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all engrossed on the hunt for Pokemon.

Such has been the incredible popularity of the smartphone game, demand is so high at the moment that new account registrations are periodically unavailable.

A statement read: "The enthusiastic response to the launch of Pokemon Go has been tremendous and inspiring. We're aware of the server issues that our players have been experiencing and are working around the clock to resolve them as soon as possible."
