Alexandre Lacazette to Arsenal: Arsene Wenger cools interest in Lyon star after being quoted £50million
Frenchman does not have £34m release clause in contract and Arsene Wenger is now exploring other options to lead the line
ARSENAL have cooled their interest in Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette after being quoted an eye-watering £50million, according to reports.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is hopeful of landing a top-class striker this summer and had made Lacazette one of his top targets despite interest from ambitious West Ham.
As revealed exclusively by SunSport, Arsenal held talks with the Frenchman earlier this month after missing out on a deal to sign Leicester ace Jamie Vardy.
Reports also claimed Arsenal were willing to meet a £34million release clause in Laczette’s contract, but Get French Football News claims the 25-year-old is no longer a priority for Wenger.
It’s firstly said that Lacazette , as they are officially illegal in France under current LFP rules.
The clause can only exist if a player and his club work up a separate contract which is not ratified by the governing body, and GFFN adds that Lacazette has no such agreement with Lyon.

The outlet also reports that Arsenal have instead which would rise to £50m through bonuses.
As a result, it’s claimed Wenger has put his interest in Lacazette to one side in order to pursue other targets.
