Ron, accompanied by mum Dolores Aveiro and son Cristiano Jr., looked in good shape ahead of pre-season, having worked tirelessly to secure European success with Portugal.

The Portugal captain enjoyed a roller coaster tournament this summer in France.

Having made it to the final - scoring twice against Hungary and once against Wales - the former Manchester United ace suffered heartache when he was taken off injured.

Ronaldo clashed with Dimitri Payet and was forced off the pitch on a stretcher, despite his best efforts to play on.

But he remained an important part of the side by bellowing instructions to his team-mates and even leading an inspirational half-time team talk.

Madrid's pre-season begins on Saturday but Ronaldo will not take part so early.

All players who were involved in the Copa America or the Euros have been given a longer break to rest.

Ronaldo is expected to link up with Zinedine Zidane and his team-mates on July 31, along with Toni Kroos, Gareth Bale and Pepe.
