Cristiano Ronaldo will have his Euro 2016 final injury treated by famous ‘placenta doctor’

Portugal captain has suffered knee injury and will go to Serbian Marijana Kovacevic to try her unique treatment

CRISTIANO RONALDO will have his injury treated by ‘placenta doctor' Marijana Kovacevic, according to reports.

Serbian daily, The Informer, has claimed the 31-year-old — who was forced off after 25 minutes of Portugal’s Euro 2016 final victory over France following a strong challenge by Dimitri Payet — wants to try her methods after hearing glowing reviews about her effective treatment from team-mates.

The Serbian-born doctor, who now lives in Dubai, is famous for having treated a number of Premier League football stars including Vincent Kompany, Glen Johnson, Robin van Persie, Branislav Ivanovic and Pablo Zabaleta.

She first hit the headlines in the UK when then Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez told reporters that he wanted to bring her to the club on a permanent basis after she successfully healed midfielder Yossi Benayoun using placenta fluid.

Speaking at the time, the former Israeli international said of her treatment: "There were no animal parts used and no injections.

“She explained everything to me beforehand and told me she would be using fluid from a placenta that had come from a woman."

According to her official website, Kovacevic's oddball techniques involve the regeneration of damaged muscular tissue using a unique gel and an electro-magnetic field.

The non-invasive and hypoallergenic process is said to produce negative results on doping tests and be completely natural and safe.

She also said that the treatment process can take up to seven days and the patient's muscle tissue should be completely regenerated by the end of the procedure.

The exact nature of Ronaldo's injury remains unclear although initial scans indicated that he had suffered a partial tear on his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

He is expected to be sidelined for up to five months and will likely miss the Uefa Super Cup against Sevilla as well as several La Liga games when the Spanish season starts up again in August.
