Sunderland slam FA for ‘damaging’ talks with Sam Allardyce over England manager job

Black Cats are already lining up former Manchester United boss David Moyes as Big Sam's replacement

FURIOUS Sunderland have told the FA to hurry up and make a decision over Sam Allardyce.

Black Cats boss Big Sam, 61, was interviewed for the vacant England manager’s job on Tuesday.

But his Premier League  club have called the uncertainty surrounding their boss “extremely damaging” and ordered “a swift resolution”.

SunSport understands Allardyce will NOT re-join Sunderland’s pre-season training camp in Austria — and the club are lining up David Moyes as a potential replacement.

Allardyce, who held talks at FA vice-chairman David Gill’s Cheshire home, has told coaches Robbie Stockdale and Paul Bracewell to take charge of the squad until they fly back tomorrow.

It is a clear sign Big Sam’s mind has already wandered to the Three Lions job.

Sunderland chiefs are pre-empting his exit by drawing up plans for a successor, with former Manchester United boss Moyes top of the shortlist.

The Black Cats twice approached the Scot last year — in May after Dick Advocaat quit and again in October when the Dutchman left for a second time.

Moyes, 53, was then in charge of Real Sociedad.

But having been sacked by the La Liga side in November, he is now out of work and wants a return.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has interested Sunderland in the past and will do again.

Black Cats chiefs want a quick appointment as their plans for next season are already in turmoil.

The club have failed to make a single signing while football operations director Ryan Sachs quit last night.

They were furious that Allardyce was pictured leaving Gill’s house, having been told the process would be “confidential”.

It led the club to issue a statement saying: “The ongoing speculation over Sam’s position is extremely damaging, particularly at this crucial time.

“We urge the FA to respect the disruption  and bring about a swift resolution.”
