But one major negative for Emma Hayes' side was the departure of Mjelde, with reports suggesting she has seriously injured her left leg.

The Norwegian went in for a seemingly tame challenge with Bristol City's Aimee Palmer but went down as a result.

And Palmer was visibly distressed after realising the extent of Mjelde's pain.

The 31-year-old was given oxygen on the pitch before being lifted off on to a stretcher.

The Australian forward netted twice in the first ten minutes to give the WSL champions a comfortable lead.

England attacker Fran Kirby then added a third before the half hour mark to all but kill the game before it had really got going.

Six minutes later Kirby added another in a final which was quickly turning into a rout.

Four minutes after the break Kerr completed her hat-trick.

And Guro Reiten rounded off a perfect display with a sixth ten minutes into the second half.
