Euro 2016 final: Portugal whizkid Renato Sanches’ birth certificate released to silence doubters ahead of Euro final

Records show Bayern Munich star is 18 despite rumours suggesting he was in fact 24 due to mix-up

RENATO SANCHES'  birth certificate has been released to finally end rumours about his age.

The Portuguese whizkid burst onto the scene this year and his powerful displays for Benfica earned him a big-money move to Bayern Munich.

And after Sanches, 18 (yes 18), hit form for Euro 2016 finalists Portugal, doubters claimed he was actually 24.

The issue arose over the fact his birth was not recorded for five years.

But Portuguese newspaper researched the issue and released the document proving his August 18, 1997 birthday.

The late registration was due to the fact his parents broke up and his father emigrated to France.

Sanches' birth was then finally registered upon his return to Portugal.

Pacey playmaker Sanches - who almost ended up at Manchester United - will now officially be the youngest player ever to play in a Euros final if he lines up against France tonight.

The ex-Benfica star won the Primeira Liga title last season and scored in his country's quarter-final win over Poland.

The Portuguese drew 1-1 before going on to win via a shootout, with Sanches again on target with his spot-kick.
