Manchester United want to use Bastian Schweinsteiger as bait to lure Blaise Matudi to Old Trafford from Paris Saint-Germain
BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER will be used as bait as Manchester United try to lure Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain.
According to a report in Sport Bild, PSG are keen on Schweinsteiger and the Germany captain’s arrival could help sweeten a deal in the eyes of the French champions' new boss Unai Emery.
Matudi has been lined up for a shock move to Old Trafford by new boss Jose Mourinho.
The France international midfielder has apparently been given time off from his country’s training camp ahead of their Euro 2016 semi-final against Germany to fly in for talks.
Matuidi, 29, still has two years left on his current deal at Parc des Princes, but boss Emery is planning a major summer overhaul.
And the four-time Ligue 1 winner could be out of the door, with United targeting a £20million deal.
Mourinho gave his first press conference yesterday since becoming Red Devils boss.
And the Portuguese admitted that he wantsto clinch the signatures of four players – with two already in the bag and a third almost there.
Ivorian centre-back Eric Bailly was the first Mourinho signing through the door in a £30m move from Spanish side Villarreal earlier this summer.
And Zlatan Ibrahimovic then announced his arrival through Instagram as the Portuguese boss was reunited with the Swedish striker, who he managed for a year while at Inter Milan.
Borussia Dortmund playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan appears set to be next in a deal woth £26.3m, with the club’s official website having dropped a clanger last week and listed new shirts for sale with the Armenian assist king’s name emblazoned on the back.

The return of France star Paul Pogba would represent an incredible summer of business for Mourinho.
Pogba – like Matuidi, Ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan – is represented by super-agent Mino Raiola, who also looks after Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli.
The Juventus ace is believed to prefer a move to Real Madrid and if United want to snare him then he would likely become the first-ever £100m player.
Money should prove no object for United.
But if they fail to secure Pogba then a deal for compatriot Matudi at a fifth of the price would seem a solid piece of business.
