Tottenham are worst team to watch in Premier League under Jose Mourinho, blasts ex-Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson

FORMER ARSENAL midfielder Paul Merson believes Tottenham are the worst team to watch in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho.

The Sky pundit delivered his damning verdict following Tottenham's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Thursday evening.

, Merson wrote: "Tottenham are the worst team in the Premier League to watch, at the moment.

"We’ve all seen teams play like this, of course we have, but not with the quality of squad Spurs have. I was so disappointed in Spurs. I could not believe what I was watching.

"Even West Brom are going and having a go. Newcastle went to Everton and had a go. It’s just hope football. Hope that they score first and then they have something to play for."

Tottenham have slipped to mid-table after losing their last three Premier League games.

It is the first time they have lost three in a row since 2012.

Mourinho's side were top of the league as recently as December following a 2-0 win against Arsenal.

But Spurs now sit just one place above their North London rivals in ninth and could struggle to qualify for Europe.

There are rumours Mourinho could be sacked if results don't improve, with Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers the bookies' favourite.

The Portuguese coach has hit back at his critics, highlighting Spurs' lack of trophies in recent years.

Since 1990 they have won just one FA Cup and two League Cups, although they did reach the Champions League final in 2019 under previous manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Mourinho said: "I put pressure on myself every day. I don't need others to put pressure on me.

"So since 2012 without three defeats in a row? But since when without a title? Maybe I can give one."
