Crystal Palace complete £10million signing of defender James Tomkins from West Ham
Ex-England under-21 star joins Andros Townsend as big summer signing at Selhurst Park
CRYSTAL PALACE have completed the £10million signing of James Tomkins from West Ham.
Tomkins has agreed a four-year deal to make the switch to Selhurst Park as boss Alan Pardew continues his summer spending spree.
Pardew has already forked out £13million on taking England winger Andros Townsend from Newcastle and nas now dug deep to get the former England under-21 defender.
Tomkins found his opportunities at West Ham limited last season after boss Slaven Bilic decided Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna were his first choice centre-back partnership.
The Hammers also have the trusted James Collins in their squad and are keen for highly-rated youngsters Reece Burke and Reece Oxford to also be given opportunities in the first team.

That meant Tomkins was surplus to requirements after a 20-year association with the Hammers which saw him join them as a seven-year-old.
He made his debut as an 18-year-old in a 1-1 Premier League draw with Everton in the 2007-08 season and went on to become a valuable member of the first team squad in east London.
Tomkins was also part of the Team GB squad for the 2012 Olympics, and made 243 appearances for West Ham, scoring 11 goals.
