Hal Robson-Kanu to Everton: Toffees want to sign Wales’ Euro 2016 hero after he left Reading at the end of last season
EVERTON will throw their hat in the ring for unsigned Euro hero Hal Robson-Kanu.
The Welsh striker has suddenly become one of the most wanted men in football, after his heroics in firing the Dragons into the last-four.
Robson-Kanu, 27, admitted he has received offers from all over the world — and that increased further after his wonder goal in the quarter-final win over Belgium.
Now Everton plan to add their name to the list, with initial inquiries once his Euros commitments are over.
Robson-Kanu let his contract run down at Reading as he chose to take the gamble of finding club as a free agent this summer.
Everton have up to £100million to spend thanks to new major investor Farhad Moshiri, who showed his intentions with his determined chase to prise Ronald Koeman from Southampton.
Yet although Koeman has more cash than any other manager in Goodison history, Robson-Kanu is very much on his radar.
The Blues have insisted Romelu Lukaku is not for sale, despite the Belgian wanting Champions League football.
But Everton need new attacking faces even if they do keep their star forward, with Arouna Kone still to make a serious impact three years after joining.
Senegal hitman Oumar Niasse has also so far failed to impress despite costing £13.5m from Lokomotiv Moscow.
Meanwhile, Everton face a real struggle if they are to tempt Juan Mata from Manchester United.
The £20m-rated midfielder will be allowed to leave now Jose Mourinho — who sold him to United from Chelsea — has arrived.
Yet United sources insist Mata would far prefer a return to Spain, with Valencia a likelier option.
