Euro 2016: Belgium stars Radja Nainggolan and Eden Hazard slink off home following their shock defeat to Gareth Bales’ Wales
HE scored a wonder-goal against Wales on Friday night, but Radja Nainggolan looked distinctly unimpressed as Belgium’s players made their way home from Euro 2016.
Marc Wilmots' side were favourites to storm the competition after firing four goals past helpless Hungary, and no-one was expecting Gareth Bale and Co. to spoil the party in Lille.
Things looked good for the Belgians when Nainggolan fired in a superb strike after 13 minutes, but feathers were ruffled when Wales captain Ashley Williams equalised with a powerful header on the half-hour mark.
Hal Robson-Kanu then evoked memories of the late Johan Cruyff with a world-class turn and finish to put Chris Coleman’s men ahead in the second-half, before Sam Vokes leapt high to secure a famous victory with five minutes remaining.
Wales will now take on Portugal for a place in the final despite playing in their first ever major tournament, and the pain was there for all to see on the face of Nainggolan and teammate Eden Hazard as Belgium left their team hotel for the short journey across the border.
Boss Wilmots also cut a meek figure as he slipped away, and the Belgian FA will now decide whether to keep him or appoint a new manager after more quarter-final misery.
