Manchester United warned they’ll regret missing out on Renato Sanches as new Bayern Munich star shines at Euro 2016
Young midfielder opted to join Germans in deal which could rise to £63m and has looked in terrific shape for Portugal
MANCHESTER UNITED have been warned they will regret missing out on Portugal star Renato Sanches.
The 18-year-old has been in superb form for his country at Euro 2016, and was heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch before joining Bayern Munich in May.
The Germans paid an initial fee of £28million for the central midfielder, which could rise to £63m through bonuses and add-ons.
Many questioned whether someone so young could justify such a hefty price-tag, but Sanches looks like he will be worth every penny after guiding Portugal to the Euro semi-finals at the expense of Poland.
The former Benfica ace also proved he has nerves of steel after smashing in a spot-kick during a tense penalty shootout, and Portugal teammate Jose Fonte believes Sanches will go on to become a world-class player.
The Southampton centre-back said: “Being a Premier League player, for me, they (United) missed out on a very good talent.

But all will be forgiven if new Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho completes a stunning deal for Juventus star Paul Pogba.
The former United youngster is believed to be a £100m target for The Special One.
Pogba looks likely to leave Turin in search of a fresh challenge, although United face stiff competition from Real Madrid for his signature.
